The 24 Hour Clock

Car hire runs from a 24 hour clock with cars hired on a daily charge. There is a grace period of around 60 minutes each side of the pick up time for the drop off but if you drop off past the time you picked up a full day will be added to the charge. So if you are searching with us consider dropping off a little earlier to correspond with your pick up time thus saving a days rental. Definitely do not exceed the pick up time when dropping off the car if you have not indicated this when booking. If you drop back later causing the rental company to charge you credit card an additional day then it will be charged at their last minute rate and not the one agreed with us, so it can be quite expensive.

Motorway Tolls

Using the latest motorway systems can be expensive especially in countries like Italy when secondary routes can be more an enjoyable and scenic route. The key here is preplanning, a good map and local knowledge where you can find the most economical and enjoyable route to your destination.

Parking

Again use local knowledge for the best and cheapest places to park when abroad. Using multi day parking permits can save you quite a packet if you are visiting a city over a number of days.

Fuel Charges

There are a number of suppliers that offer full to empty fuel options when you pick it up. Newer cars and especially diesels offer amazing fuel consumption levels. You know the length of your rental and the amount of travelling and the distances you will be covering. Don't pay for a tank of fuel and end up bringing a good amount back to the rental company. They won't give you a refund and you will just feel cheated.

Additional Drivers

Some suppliers include an additional driver free of charge and others have charges of varying amounts. If you are looking to add another driver when you pick the car up then shop around. The supplier or broker that shows up first for price may not be the best inclusive price for you. This is true for all additional extras - read your terms and conditions before booking.

Insurances
