The Airport
The airport is located four miles west of Faro in Portugal and if driving it is off the N125 motorway. Just outside the main terminal building is a bus stop where you can catch a bus to the centre of Faro, there are no trains. The journey takes 20 minutes approximately and buses run frequently. There is a timetable at the information desk.
Faro is, in fact, a small provincial airport with just one terminal but as it sees over four million visitors pass through it each year it has 60 check in desks that cater for the mainly charter flights coming from all over the world. Departures are on the upper floor with check in and arrivals on the ground floor. Over 35 airlines use this airport as it makes for easy access to Portugal's Algarve, a popular destination for holidaymakers.

Other Car Hire Locations
If you would prefer to hire a car 'off airport' then there are many car hire firms in Faro town which is only a short transfer by bus, taxi or airport transfer. You can also find car hire locations in many of the major holiday destinations such as Praia da Luz, Vale do Lobo and Albufeira.
Parking
There is ample parking with easy access and it is well sign posted. Be aware that the parking is not under cover and in the Summer months it will get extremely hot. There is no off site cheap alternative to the airport long term parking.
Services
Within the airport departure lounge you can find a small bar, coffee shop and a newsagent but there are no huge duty free shops so do be aware of this before you travel.
