Alicante Airport
The Airport
Alicante Airport is located 8 kilometers (5 miles) to the south west of the city of Alicante and is an excellent gateway to the Costa Blanca. It is the sixth busiest airport in Spain handling over nine million passengers per year. It is also the closest serving airport to the very popular Benidorm which is found to the north east of Alicante city.
You can reach the airport in your hire car by smaller N332 which takes you into the city center or by the much larger A7, which goes from Algeciras (near Gibraltar) right up above Girona, meeting the French border, although it is tolled in stretches.
Alicante Airport consists of two terminals (adjacent to each other) with another being opened in 2011 and a single runway.
You can drop off outside the airport but if you are staying for any amount of time you will have to use the short term car parks which charge per minute.

Other Car Hire Locations
There are no trains to or away from the airport but there are options to get to other car rental locations in the region should you wish to.
Buses pick up from opposite Terminal 1 and serve Elche, Murcia, Benidorm and of course into Alicante city.
Parking
The short term parking is located directly opposite Terminal 1 across the road and offers 2,000 spaces mostly covered within a multistory. The parking for car hire is located past the standard parking on the ground floor opposite the arrivals terminals.
Short term parking charges are as follows - please note Alicante airport charges per minute.
Up to 30 Minutes = €0.021584 per minute
31 minutes to 1 hour = €0.034175 per minute
61 minutes onwards = €0.027779
Up to a maximum charge of €18.30 per day for four days and €14.65 from the fifth day onwards.
Services
There are a number of shopping opportunities past security with twelve outlets ranging from Warner Brothers to sweet shops and music stores. There are seven places for food and drink at the airport, some past security and some in the general area.
There is a pharmacy in the arrivals area should you need it and although no Hotels are within the airport area some can be found around five minutes drive away.
Lounges are in operation at the airport if you want more comfort and you can find banking points to get the money to pay for them.
