The Airport
Southampton Airport is situated just a 30 minute drive outside the city of Southampton on the South coast of England and is easily reached from the M27 motorway, exit at junction 5. The airport is also easily reached from Oxford and Newbury, via the M3 or, if you are approaching from the city centre, from the A335.
Owned and operated by BAA, Southampton airport has just a single runway and one terminal, served by 12 airlines and tour operators. From here it is possible to fly to and from 46 different destinations including Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Bergerac and Hanover, as well as a number of UK destinations including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Jersey and Guernsey.
Hire cars can be picked up and dropped off close to the terminal building, with the exact details varying between different car hire companies. Out of hours drop offs are catered for with special parking bays and drop boxes for leaving keys and paperwork.

The airport has a car rental reception centre conveniently located just opposite the terminal building, next to the Short Stay Car Park, where you will find all the major UK car hire companies represented.
Other Car Hire Locations
If you would prefer to pick up a car hire from the city centre itself, Southampton offers a large number of car hire firms to choose from and bus services are available from the airport direct to the town; a journey of approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you could travel into town by taxi - the airport has a number of taxi services available, all of which can be paid for in advance at the airport desk in the main terminal building. This desk is open 24 hours a day, meaning that your travel into Southampton will be hassle free at any time of the day or night.
Parking
Short stay car parking at Southampton airport is conveniently located close to the airport terminal and is recommended for stays of 24 hours or less. It is not necessary to pre-book for short stay parking. Long stay parking is available only five minutes away from the airport, which offers secure parking, together with an efficient transfer service, shuttles running every 5 to 10 minutes. The long stay car park holds the Secured Car Park Award with security measures in place including 24-hour car park attendants, frequent patrols and comprehensive CCTV coverage.
